Opening: new movie releases

A number of new movies and limited television series will debut this week, including the following titles opening in theaters or premiering via video on demand on various streaming platforms:

‘Supergirl’

Genre: Superhero

Cast: Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa

Director: Craig Gillespie

Rated: PG-13

When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl (Milly Alcock), reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

The film is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on June 26.

‘Jackass: Best and Last’

Genre: Slapstick comedy

Cast: Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England, Danger Ehren, Poopies, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, and Rachel Wolfson

Director: Jeff Tremaine

Johnny Knoxville and the gang return for one final fling at the big screen.

Featuring all-new stunts and stupidity along with the greatest hits and biggest laughs from the past, “Jackass: Best and Last” is a joyously raucous celebration of all the mischievous camaraderie that you’ve come to love and expect from these idiots over the past 25 years. So, grab your dumb little buddies, raise your glasses, and come experience the cinematic event.

The film is scheduled to be released theatrically by Paramount Pictures on June 26.

‘Little Brother’

The film is set to be released on Netflix on June 26.

‘The Invite’

‘Strung’

‘Couture’

‘The Get Out’

Genre: Action crime thriller

Cast: Russell Crowe, Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer, Danny Zovatto, Josh McConville, Nina Dobrev, and Aaron Paul

A nightclub owner (Russell Crowe) is forced back into a violent game of cat and mouse when masked gunmen (Nina Dobrev, Aaron Paul), cartel threats, and a mysterious buyer (Luke Evans) turn his escape plan into a deadly trap.

The film is scheduled to be released in select theaters and on video on demand by Vertical on June 26.

‘Lucky Strike’

Genre: War action thriller

Inspired by true events, “Lucky Strike” tells the story of one soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the last major German offensive during WWII, what will become known as the Battle of the Bulge. Armed only with his Motorola SCR-300 radio, a new technology only battle-ready near the end of the war, he must use his wits and spy craft to thwart the advancing Nazi Panzer army and find his way back home.

The film is scheduled to be released by Roadside Attractions on June 26.

‘Above the Line’

‘Camp’
